Vintage Yacht Regatta 2020
I had a great day at the Vintage Yacht Regatta, hosted by the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club. A good selection of yachts and dinghies on display, enjoying some unpredictable but enjoyable sailing conditions.
Foil Racing - It's Cheaper Than You Think
As an avid windsurfer since childhood I was excited to try foiling as soon as the first video clips hit YouTube. After moving to Moreton Bay, in Brisbane QLD, and having no nearby wave breaks (my previous passion), I was looking for a way to refresh my enjoyment of windsurfing. I tried slalom racing first; it was intoxicatingly thrilling, especially driving into the gybe at full speed with ten or more other sailors doing the exact same thing around you. The opportunities to race in the area were dwindling though. Luckily the foiling craze hit at the right time.
Windsurfer Nationals 2020
The Windsurfer Class National Titles at the Brighton & Seacliff Yacht Club broke the record with 116 entries. Sailors sailed in six categories: cruiser, ladies, super-heavy, heavy, medium and light with ages spanning 12 to 80!
Sail Paradise 2020
The 11th Bartercard Sail Paradise. Four stunning days of champagne sailing off the Gold Coast. Hosted by Southport Yacht Club.
Sydney to Hobart 2019
I went out on the Manly Fast Ferry for the start of the 75th Rolex Sydney to Hobart. Definately recommended and probably the best option if you want to experience the start of this great race.
